Today’s worker -class Mumbai light, life and texture is explored and celebrated by writer/director Payal Kapadia, who won the top prize for her open fiction debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Two roommates, who also work together at the City Hospital-Chief Nursing Prabha (Kani Kusruti) and the recent rented Anu (Divya Prabha)-as well as their colleague, ready for Parvaty (Chhaya Kadam), Kapadia’s movie that is played, sometimes, and heart pain, hope and frustration. Prabha, her husband from an organized marriage living in a distant Germany, is a doctor in her hospital; Anu continues the romance with the Muslim man, which she needs to keep from her strong Hindu family; Parvaty comes to the sudden eviction of your apartment. The capadia reflects the bustle of metropolis and the seaside village with an equal glow of outdoor peace with an equal glow articulated by her outstanding actress and a camera with lyrical naturalism, which occasionally drifts in the dreamy glow. Everything we imagine as a light is a soulful study of friendship and sister transforming power in all its complexity and wealth.
